George R. Walters, M.D. joined Eye Centers of Southeast Texas in March 2016 to help Dr.’s Harmon and Levacy continue their goal of providing excellent eye care to the people of Southeast Texas and expedite waiting time to see a doctor.
Like Dr. Levacy and Harmon, Dr. Walters provides general eye care along with state of the art cataract and refractive surgery to his patients.
Having over 30 years’ experience, Dr. Walters founded Regional Eye Center in Pampa, Texas, his home town, which was the areas first outpatient facility dedicated exclusively to cataract surgery. He was also the first physician in the area to offer the newest implant technology, perform RK surgery, and in 1995 perform PRK followed by LASIK in 1996. Along with his practice in Pampa, Texas he had LASIK centers in Amarillo and Lubbock Texas.
In 2003 Dr. Walters sold his practice in the Panhandle and moved to South Texas to enjoy the warmer weather and deep sea fishing opportunities of South Padre Island. Dr. Walters then became chief surgeon and part owner of a facility where he provided quality LASIK procedures and premium lens implants to the patient of Killeen, Texas and Fort Hood, Texas.
Dr. Walters now practices general ophthalmology and is happy to see all patients with a variety of eye problems and perform cataract surgery, laser surgery, and other minor eye procedures. Dr. Walters excels in taking the time to explain the condition and treatment in a down home easy manner that patient understand and appreciate.
Born and raised in Pampa Texas, Dr. Walters attended West Texas A&M University, graduated from UTMB, Galveston and received his residency training at Tulane School of Medicine in New Orleans, La. Dr. Walters served in the United States Air Force as a Major and Chief of Ophthalmology at Scott AFB in Illinois.
Dr. Walters enjoys water sports, reading mystery novels, travel, and watching his granddaughter become a beautiful young woman. He is excited and grateful to be a part of the best eye care team in Southeast Texas.
